*2. Why do I need a program like Morpheus Photo Compressor?

Many of the photos you take with your digital camera and later move to your computer are too large for sharing with others over email. Morpheus Photo Compressor enables you to email these digital photos, no matter their size, without running into any technical obstacles. Some of the key problems people have when they try to share photos using email include:

  • The photo files are too large to send using email.
  • The photo image itself is too large for either the picture sender or the receiver to view on a standard monitor, without having to scroll around the image awkwardly to view it.
  • The person receiving the photos either is not able to download the pictures at all due to the picture file size, or the picture takes far too long to download.

Thanks to Morpheus Photo Compressor, these problems have been solved, and the technical hassles associated with photo sharing have become a thing of the past for computer users everywhere. Emailing photos is now as easy as taking a snapshot with your camera.

*3. How does Morpheus Photo Compressor work?

Morpheus Photo Compressor works by allowing you to visually see how different JPEG quality settings will affect the quality of the picture without having to save and reload it. Simply slide the slider bar back and forth to preview all of the different quality settings. There is also the option to resize images using the same easy slider bar method, because many digital cameras and scanners produce images that are great for printing but way too large to be shared by email.

JPEG images are computed in memory and then reloaded from memory internally and automatically. This lets you see exactly what the picture will look like when saved, unlike many programs which only show the perfect original image and sometimes let you enter a number into a box for the quality setting. With other programs you never really know how the JPEG file will look unless you close the program and then reopen the picture. This can waste time and cause many duplicate copies of the picture as somebody tests various quality settings. With Morpheus Photo Compressor, all of that work is eliminated since you can see exactly what the image will look like simply by adjusting the slider bar.

*5. Why do I need to recompress my photos if they are already in .JPG format?

.JPG files can be compressed with any possible quality setting, and high quality settings can quickly make the file for the picture unnecessarily large with no visible quality gain. Recompressing your photos with Morpheus Photo Compressor lets you save space and time needed to download or email the picture by letting you quickly optimize the settings.

Many digital cameras and scanners produce .JPG files, but they may do so using a very large image with lots of pixels that you would have to zoom out to view. The problem is sometimes the people you may email a picture to might not have a program that can zoom out of the image, so all they will see is the corner of your photo since the rest is off their screen! Morpheus Photo Compressor lets you resize images down to a size that not only lets people view them without zooming or scrolling, but also that saves space and time by making the file size smaller.

*6. How can I save more space and time if my pictures are already compressed?

JPEG files are not always compressed with the most optimal compression setting. Photos from digital cameras typically use very high quality settings and thus the files are larger than they need be. You can pick a moderate quality setting that offers no visual difference between the images, but still save a significant amount of space simply by recompressing your pictures with Morpheus Photo Compressor. You can also resize images for use with email or webpages which can reduce the file size by a large amount as well.

*7. I get an error trying to use the email feature, how do I email my pictures?

The email picture features require that you use a mail program which supports MAPI and is set up in windows as the default email program. Most common email programs, such as Mozilla Thunderbird, Microsoft Office Outlook, Windows Mail, or Outlook Express will work, but many types of webmail accounts will not. If the wrong program is loaded when you click on this button, make sure the program you want to use thinks it is the default mail program for Windows.

To change the default mail program, go to Control Panel and click on Programs, then Default Programs, and then Set your default programs. From there, you can select a program you have installed from the list, and then click "Set this program as default" at the bottom.

In older versions of Windows, you can change the default mail program in Control Panel under Internet Options, in the Programs tab. If your program is not listed as a choice in Control Panel, it most likely does not support MAPI and you will have to save your pictures and attach them manually.

*8. My picture is too large, how can I see it all?

You will most likely want to use the picture size slider bar to reduce the size until it fits onto your screen without needing to scroll so that people you share your picture with will be able to see it all more easily. If you want to keep a large image you can use the scrollbars to pan around, or simply click and drag the picture around in its box.
